West Bromwich African Caribbean Resource Centre

We provide a range of services for the African Caribbean people of Sandwell, aimed at empowering and enriching the community’s quality of life. We pride ourselves in supporting the education of children, young people and helping older people to maintain their health. The services we provide are designed to cover the spirit of the charitable purpose for which the organisation was established. We support the rest of the community through running a Saturday school and offering culturally appropriate educational services, including training and employment advice.

Current & previous projects:

  • Daycare for the elderly – we focus on social interaction, health awareness and activities that promote well-being. This gives our service users a better understanding of their health conditions and empowers them to change their lifestyles - becoming fitter and more active.
  • The Sapphire Project focused on befriending African Caribbean and dual heritage patients on elderly wards at two Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals.
  • Providing a friendly and affordable place for local members of the Bangladeshi community to socialise and make use of the facilities.

How would the prize money help our community projects?

The donation will be used to upgrade our equipment and enable young people to pursue activities ranging from dance, performing arts, singing, and healthy cooking.
